Initium exists to inspire today's college and career singles to know God's love personally and to share it with others.

In 1999, a few college students from Vietnamese Baptist Church desired to have something more in a Bible study. Their vision was to reach young Vietnamese-Americans across the city, and as a result, the YA Bible study was born.

Over the years, God showed us that the desire for more enriching Bible studies was universal. Our mission changed from its focus on Vietnamese-Americans to the rich diversity and potential that Houston offers.

In 2007, God gave us another vision—a vision for everyone. We renamed our Bible study to "Initium," from the Latin for 'beginnings'. It's a name that evokes a feeling of revitalization for a tired world. It's about New Beginnings for the unsaved, New Beginnings for longtime believers, New Beginnings for everyone.
